  • P & H Shovel Simulator
  • Fire Suppression Simulator
  • Possibly jack leg drilling
  • ...and more!

We will start underground tours of the mine and other entertainment at 11AM. Lunch will happen at 1:30PM, followed by more tours and entertainment if time permits.

As always we would love to help your company showcase your equipment, so if you have some cool toys you would like to bring out please let us know. We will try to accommodate everyone we can, but space may be limited so let us know ASAP.

We hope to see you soon!

The U of A Student SME Chapter

Organized by

The mission of the Chapter is to build a reputation upon respect, integrity, and professionalism while promoting awareness in the fields of mining, metallurgy and exploration through education and direct exposure to mining practices, equipment, sustainability and safety. This upcoming academic year (2023-2024), the student chapter has many goals it plans to accomplish. With the help of chapter members, faculty and industry professionals these goals will be more than attainable.

01. Raise Funds for the 2024 SME Annual Expo & Conference (MINEXCHANGE)

Due to ever increasing student involment in the chapter, we hope to send a record number of students to this years conference, at little to no cost to each student. This is an amazing opportunity and sending students to this event is one of our proudest accomplishments every year.

02. Increase Targeted Outreach

The SME Student Chapter is actively expanding recruitment to look for aspiring young engineers, geologists, hydrologists and metallurgists to join the Chapter and have a positive impact in their future careers.

03. Promote Professional Development

The Chapter provides professional assistance for members such as resume reviews, mock interviews, and networking. We help promote internship and employment opportunities and facilitate companies' recruitment efforts.
